In Paris there is a quartier called Belleville, an area on the verge of gentrification. It might be one of the last neighborhoods in the center of Paris, that still feel real, when I stay there a couple of days. One day I pass by a hair salon called `The Blackpearl´, a family business run by a lovely, strong woman. And where there is one tough female, there are always more around. They gave me an insight in lacing hair, their lives and I was able to capture some intimate moments of clients, workers and the manageress and her children.
